Congratulations Kesia!! I saw the news yesterday and am so pleased for you. That's wonderful that you'll be back in the UK too. Really interesting to hear how you're planning to make sure all your writers are properly looked after in this transitional phase. That speaks volumes of your integrity as a person.
Very best of luck Kesia. I'm sure the authors you work with will appreciate you no matter what role you're in. Thanks also for shaing your journey. You always sound so very caring about your authors and it's so good to see
Your newsletters are always honest and insightful. Thank you for sharing and continuing to lift up the writing profession! Best of luck on your new journey.
Bittersweet to be sure, but so glad to see you being able to pursue what you love full-time. Congratulations, Kesia, and thanks for sharing — and continuing to share — your agenting/publishing insights!
It was so great meeting you at Futurescapes in the fall! Your suggestions really inspired me to write a new opening chapter. I’d been looking forward to querying you once I finished the edits. Ah well. Wishing you all the best in this new endeavor!
That sounds sensible. And so much nicer than when the small press I worked for shut down and I had to contact an author who had waited for two years and was one week away from publication and tell him it would not happen. :-(
When my editor at Tor went from agent to editor, he handed many of his authors off to other agents he knew and trusted. (In my case, he switched from agent to editor and bought the book he had been agenting himself--after a six-year wait. lol)
But earlier, he had been a publisher and when he had to close the press, he kept supporting his authors until he sold all the books he had printed. I always really admired him for that.
I hope you find just the right way to balance your new job and finding the right place for your own critics.
